Shemul Biswas’ plea not accepted for early bail hearing

A Dhaka Court on Wednesday did not pass any order on a petition filed by Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shemul Biswas, a BNP candidate in the Parliament Election from Pabna-5 Constituency, seeking early hearing of his bail application in a case which was scheduled to be heard on January 27, 2019.
Advocate Masud Rana, one of the lawyers of Shemul Biswas, said, an application was placed in the court of Metropolitan Session Judge Imrul Kayes yesterday. But the judge did not accept the application nor passed any order on it.
The lawyer also said, “Shemul Biswas is on bail in all the cases filed against him. But he is shown arrested recently in a case filed in the Shahbagh Police Station. Then we filed bail application in the case. After primary hearing, the court fixed January 27, 2019, to hear the bail petition. In the mean time Election Commission dated December 30, 2018, for the next Parliament Election. Shemul Biswas is a candidate in the election. In this regard, we filed a plea yesterday for early hearing of his bail application so that he can get release from jail and get opportunity to participate in the election physically. But the court did not pass any order on the application.”
The law enforcers arrested Shemul Biawas on February 8 this year in another case.
