Holders Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra returned to the winning steak as they came from behind to post a 2-1 goals victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited (MSCL) in the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League held on Wednesday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
In the day’s match, forward Wahed Ahmed opened an account for Mohammedan ahead in the 20th minute while forward Mithun Chowdhury restored the parity for Sheikh Russel in the 31st minute.
Mithun sealed the victory for the holders after scoring his second goals in the 52nd minute.
With the day’s win, Sheikh Russel improved their tally with 32 points from 24 matches while Mohammedan remained at their previous collection of 38 points also from the same number of outings.
In the day’s other league match, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC defeated hosts Chittagong Abahani Limited by 1-0 goal at the MA Aziz Stadium in the port city of Chittagong
Ismail netted the match-winning goal for the freedom fighters team Muktijoddha in the very 5th minute of the match.
With the day’s feat, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC advanced to the 3rd slot in the league table toppling Mohammedan SC collecting 40 points from 24 outings while Chittagong Abahani remained at the 8th slot with their previous credit of 22 points from 24 encounters.
