AFC Cup: Sheikh Russel split points with KRL of Pakistan

Bangladesh champions Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra played to a draw with Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) Football Club of Pakistan in their first Group-A qualifying round match of the AFC President Cup Football at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo on Wednesday.
Although Sheikh Russel KC created pressure from the very beginning of the match, they failed to convert it into success.
The Bangladesh champions established their control over the ball in most of the time of both halves.
In the 2nd half, Sabuj shot dodged the KRL goalie in 72nd meeting but went out through the near post.
Russel also failed to convert the opportunities of four corners.
In the first half, Hasan Al Mamun of Russell got yellow card as he fouled Daud while Salman of KRL got yellow card after making foul to Mithun.
Rizwan Asif of KRL spoiled a chance as his header bounced back from the goal post.
In 20th minute, midfielder Daud of KRL missed another chance as his shot bounced back from goal post.
Besides, KRL spoiled two other chances in the first half.
Sheikh Russel KC, which earned triple in the last season, will play Air Force SC of hosts Sri Lanka today (Friday) and Ugyen Academy FC of Bhutan on Sunday (May 11) in their remaining Group-A engagements.
