Sheikh Russel 2nd South Asian Rollball Championship (men’s & women’s) begins today at the two separate venues – Basketball Gymnasium at Dhanmondi and Indoor Stadium at Mirpur in the city.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith is expected to inaugurate the three-day meet as the chief guest, sponsored by Walton. State Minister for Youth and Sports Sri Biren Sikder is expected to attend the inaugural function as the special guest.
Apart from host Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives are taking part in the meet, oragnised by Bangladesh Roller Skating Federation (BRSF).
The budget of the championship has been estimated at Taka 65 lakhs. Private satellite channel ATN Bangla has become the media partner of the championship. In this regards, a press conference was held today at the Bangabandhu National Stadium to give all the details of the meet.
BRSF general secretary Ahmed Asiful Hasan, Walton additional director head of games and sports FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, among others, present on the occasion.
