On the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary of Sheikh Russel Jatio Shishu Kishor Parisad, Sheikh Russel School Chess tournament was held Friday at Chess Federation hall-room in National Sports Council old building.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, MP, formally inaugurated the day-long meet as the chief guest. Sheikh Russel Jatio Shishu Kishor Parisad organized the event in association with Bangladesh Chess Federation.
Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, adviser of Bangladesh Awami League, M Sherajul Islam Mollah, MP, and Haji Jahangir Alam, chairman Berayed Union Parisad, were present as special guests.
KM Shahidullah, president of Sheikh Russel Jatio Shishu Kishor Parisad Dhaka City Committee, presided over the ceremony.
A total of 82 students participated in four groups. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam emerged champion with maximum 5 points, Nafim Al Karim became runner-up with 4.5 points, Tahmidul Haque became 3rd and Ramim Ahbab Tilok became 4th with 4 points each in Boys Class VI to X group.
Ahmed Walijah became champion, Nusrat Jahan Alo became runner-up, Jannatul Ferdous became 3rd and Musfica Jannat Sawri became 4th with 4 points each in Girls Class VI to X Group.
Manon Reja Neer emerged champion with 4.5 points, M Sajidul Haque became runner-up with 4 points, Rushil Reza became 3rd, Muhammad Abtahi Abrar became 4th and Syed Ridwan became 5th with 3.5 points each in Boys Class KG to V.
Jannatul Ferdous Ratri Lamia emerged champion with 4.5 points, Warsia Khusbu became runner-up with 4 points and Wadifa Ahmed became 3rd with 3.5 points and Marzuka Mukarrama became 4th with 3 points in Girls Class KG to V Group.
