Fed Cup Football: Sheikh Russel edge past Sheikh Jamal

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra edged past Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited by 3-2 goals in their last Group-A match of the Walton Federation Club Football in the flood-lit Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Though Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited tasted defeat but by virtue of better goal difference Sheikh Jamal moved into the quarter-final as they runners-up of their group.

On the other hand, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakara confirmed their last eight berth as the champions of that group.
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra entered the quarter-final bagging six points from two matches, while Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited confirmed their quarter-final berth earning one point from two matches. Bangladesh Police earned one point from two matches but they bade Federation Cup holding high as they failed to achieve better goal difference than Sheikh Russel.
Sheikh Russel’s Tajik recruit Asrorov put his team ahead by a header using a corner of his teammate Kyrgyz midfielder Bakhtiyar in the 8th minute of the match.

Taklis of Sheikh Russel made it 3-1 using a free-kick of his teammate Bakhtiyar in the 59th minute of the clash.
Sheikh Jamal were awarded another penalty kick just one minute before the long whistle. Solomon King reduced the margin (3-2).
Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Saif Sporting Club, Uttar Baridhara Club, Bashundhara Kings, Chattogram Abahani Limited, Dhaka Abahani Limited and Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited sailed into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Federation Cup Football.
