The birthday of Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of the architect of independence of Bangladesh, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was celebrated with due solemnity at Gafargaon under Mymensingh on Monday.
The upazila administration organized a wreath-laying ceremony at Sheikh Russell’s picture and a discussion meeting was organized at the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Tajul Islam presided over the discussion while Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashraf Uddin Badal, Upazila Vice Chairman Principal Ataur Rahman, Upazila Mahila Vice Chairman Reshma Akter, Gafargaon Thana Officer-in-Charge Md. Faruk Ahmed, Pagla Thana Officer-in-Charge Rasheduzzaman spoke.
Among others, General Secretary of the Municipality Awami League Professor Matiur Rahman Babul, UP Chairman Nazmul Haque Dhali, Mostafa Kamal Moni, Abdullah Al Amin Biplob, teachers and students of various educational institutions and officials and employees of various departments were present.
