The 68th birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed on Saturday in the city as elsewhere across the country with an elaborate programme.
The day’s programme started at 8 in the morning with the placing of wreaths and flower petals at the portrait of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal on the premises of the country’s premiere club at Dhanmondi, Abahani Limited, which the slain young leader and connoisseur of sports established after independence.
Leaders and workers of the ruling Awami League including AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organising Secretaries Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Enamul Haque, Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, Dhaka North City AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and South General Secretary Sadeq Khan, among others, placed wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Kamal.
