Sheikh Kamal Int’l Club Cup set to begin tomorrow in Ctg

The second edition of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Football is set to begin from Saturday (February 18) at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal is expected to inaugurate the 13-day meet as the chief guest.
Approved by FIFA and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the tournament named after Bangabandhu’s eldest son and eminent sports organizer martyred Sheikh Kamal. The tournament will be organized by the BFF in association with Chittagong Abahani Limited.
Addressing a press conference today (Thursday) at Chittagong Club, Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, MP, also member secretary of the tournament organizing committee, said all the eight participants teams and match officials including referees and match commissioner have already reached in the port city.
He said Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also elder sister of Sheikh Kamal, is expected to present in the final match of the tournament as the chief guest and will handed over the trophy to the champions team.
He also sought all cooperation to make the tournament a success.
M A Latif, MP, chairman of the tournament organizing committee Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, chief coordinator of tournament organizing committee Abu Nayeem Shohag, general secretary of Bangladesh Football Federation Mohammad Ali Abbas, Chairman of media committee of the tournament Mahabubul Alam, president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries, were among others, also present on the occasion.
A total of eight clubs including five foreign clubs will fight for the prestigious trophy of the tournament.
