Khulna-2 constituency is the most important seat in south-western region of the country. In the upcoming 11th parliamentary election, Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, nephew of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and second son of Shahid Sheikh Abu Naser may get nomination for Khulna-2 constituency in the 11th parliamentary election, party sources said.
On October 26, 2018 , Sheikh Jewel came to Khulna when thousands of Awami League leaders, activists and supporters welcomed him spontaneously.
In spite of the fact that the decision of giving nomination has not yet finalised, but due to signal of the party high command, Sheikh Jewel may get nomination for Khulna-2 constituency (Comprised with Khulna Sadar and Sonadanga Thana), said Awami League sources.
Billboards, posters belonged to the photograph of Sheikh Jewel throughout the city are indicating the nomination for the upcoming 11th parliamentary election. Besides, Khulna inhabitants want to see new face, said an Awami League leader.
Mentionable in this connection that KCC Mayor Talukdar Abdul Khaleque has already started seeking support in favor of Sheikh Jewel.
All sections of leaders, activists and supporters of Awami League wants to see Sheikh Jewel as the MP of Khulna-2 constituency, said KCC Mayor Talukdar Abdul Khaleque.
On a recent spot visit, this correspondent found that posters and panas belonging the photograph of sheikh Jewel are increasing beauty at Pherighat intersection, Khanjahan Ali Road, Lower Jashore road, Shibbari intersection, Zoragate, Boyra College (Khulna Girls’ College) intersection, Gallamari, Sonadanga, Sher-e-Bangla road and KDA Avenue areas.
Besides, large numbers of billboards are furnished with the photograph of Sheikh Jewel and writings for seeking vote for boat where it is stated to give vote to Sheikh Jewel.
On the other hand, the present Member of Parliament (MP) of Khulna-2 constituency Md. Mizanur Rahan Mizan who is Khulna City Unit General Secretary of Awami League and coordinator of 14 party alliance has also been working in the root level for getting nomination again.
MP Mizan said, I’m expecting for getting nomination for the upcoming election, if the party I’ll perform my duties concerned by staying beside the people. KCC Mayor Talukdar Abdul Khaleque said, we must work for the person unitedly who will get nomination by the party for the interest of the party and the common people.
Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel said, I can’t say anything regarding the election at this moment, after the final declaration by the party it would be clear.
