Defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club took a solo lead in the JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating Brothers Union Club by 5-4 goals in a keenly contested match at Sylhet District Stadium Sunday afternoon.
With the day’s victory, Sheikh Jamal DC secured 18 points from eight matches to take solo lead in the league table toppling Dhaka Abahani Limited, which bagged 15 points from seven encounters. Brothers Union remained at the 7th slot with eight points from as many matches.
Wedson Anselme struck twice, Landing Darboe, Emeka Darlington and Nipu netted one each for the winners while Kingsely netted two, Mannaf Rabby and Walson scored one each for the losers.
In the day’s match, Wedson scored twice in the 28th and 72nd minutes, Landing, Darlington and Nipu netted one each in the 30th, 42nd and 71st minutes respectively for Sheikh Jamal DC.
Kingsley struck twice in the 63rd and 79 minutes, Mannaf Rabby and Walson added one more goals in the 34th and 35th minutes for Brothers Union..
Sweet of Sheikh Jamal DC got marching order in the 77th minute of the match after receiving direct red card.
