Sheikh Jamal retain Premier Football League title

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club smartly clinched the Bangladesh Premier Football League crown for the second time in a row with two matches to spare beating Dhaka Mohammedan SC by 3-2 goals in the 2nd leg match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Thursday.
The first-leg match between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw.
This is the 2nd trophy for the national captain Mamunul Islam Mamun-led star-studded Sheikh Jamal DC this year after winning the season’s curtain raiser Federation Cup title.
With the day’s feat, Sheikh Jamal DC clinched the 3rd Bangladesh Premier League crown in their five-year colorful journey in the highest level of country’s football securing 45 points from 18 matches with 14 wins, three draws and one defeat, scoring 56 goals against 20.
Results of their two remaining league matches against Muktijoddha Sangsad KC on August 3 and Dhaka Abahani Limited on August 7 will not hamper their league title.
On the other hand, the traditional black and white Mohammedan SC went down in the league runners-up race with 34 points from 18 league encounters as their nearest rivals Sheikh Russel KC bagged 32 points from 16 outings.
