Sheikh Jamal edge past Rupganj Tigers in DPL

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited edged past Rupganj Tigers by four runs in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Monday.
Put into bat first, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club limited made 202 runs off 48.1 overs and then restricted Rupganj Tigers to 198 for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs.
Opener Saif Hassan of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited notched up a superb 61. He hit three sixes and four fours in his 94-ball innings.
Sixth-down Ziaur Rahman hit a sparkle 57. His 50-ball innings was ornamented with four sixes and three fours. Later, Ziaur Rahman bagged two wickets for 16 runs. Ziaur Rahman was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
Robiul Islam Robi, Parvez Rasool and Imrul Kayes added 20, 19 and 16 runs respectively to the Sheikh Jamal total.
Nasum Ahmed of Rupganj Tigers captured four wickets in the space of 22 runs, while Enamul Haque (Junior), Farhad Reza and Mukidul Islam bagged two wickets each conceding 29, 37 and 54 runs respectively.
Later, second-down Asif Ahmed of Rupganj Tigers was deprived from a century for just five runs. He was victim of nervous nineties. He hit a terrific 95. His 132-ball innings was belted with eight fours and two sixes.
Saad Nasim made 37 from 44 deliveries featuring two fours and a sixer.
Marshall Ayub and Imran Uzzaman contributed 28 and 20 runs respectively to the Rupganj Tigers’ total.
Mrittunjoy Chowdhury of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited grabbed three wickets at the cost of 37 runs, while Robiul Islam Robi, Parvez Rasool and Asif Ahmed took one wicket each for 26, 28 and 32 runs respectively.
