Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited eased past Dhaka Abahani Limited by five wickets in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Ground-4 in Savar on Friday.
Chasing Dhaka Abahani Limited’s total of 177 off 45.4 overs, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club sailed home making 182 for the loss of five wickets when they had eight balls to spare.
Robiul Islam Robi of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited remained unbeaten with 57 runs. He hit two sixes and five fours in his 88-ball innings.
Imrul Kayes, Saif Hassan, Jahurul Islam, Taibur Rahman and Shykat Ali added 26, 24, 21, 20 and 19 runs respectively to the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club total.
Afif Hossain of Dhaka Abahani Limited bagged two wickets at the cost of 38 runs, while Tanvir Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib took one wicket each for 13 and 40 runs respectively.
Earlier, Parvez Rasool of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited played the key role in wrecking Dhaka Abahani innings. Parvez Rassool captured five wickets in the space of 29 runs. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
Sanzamul Islam bagged two wickets instead of 23 runs, while Robiul Islam Robi took one wicket for 26 runs.
Fifth-down Shamim Hossain of Dhaka Abahani Limited hit a sparkle 51. His 72-ball innings was laced with eight fours.
Jaker Ali made 32 from 76 balls featuring three fours.
Opener Munim Shahriar and second-down Mosaddek Hossain added 25 and 22 runs respectively to the Dhaka Abahani Limited total.
