Sheikh Jamal clinch BPL title

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club confirmed title of Nitol Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League with two matches in hands when they registered a solitary goal victory over Abahani Limited held on Tuesday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Sheikh Jamal, who just needed a point to ensure their second title of the professional football league, had a chance to take the lead in the 22nd minute but midfielder Mamunul Islam saw his left footer flying over the crosspiece.
Abahani’s Ghanaian forward Osei Morrison squandered a chance in the 32nd minute. Midfielder Awudu Ibrahim put a lob to Morrison who received the ball and took a shot to goal but Jamal goalie Mazharul Islam saved by punching away the ball.
Haitian Wedson Anselme missed a chance having one-on-one situation with the goalie Shahedul Alam Sohel. Wedson shot was saved by Shahed dived to the right.
However, Wedson Anselme broke the deadlock in the 71st minute with a 20 yards shot. Nigerian forward Emeka Darlington delivered a pass to Wedson whose fierce shot from outside of the box kissed back of the net (1-0).
Abahani were very close to equalizer but Portuguese forward Soares shot went wide the post from the box.
After this win, Jamal took their tally to 58 points from 25 matches while Abahani remained with their previous earning of 46 points from 25 matches.
