Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited beat Prime Bank Cricket Club by seven wickets in their Super League match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Sunday.
Chasing Prime Bank’s fighting total of 163 for the loss of three wickets in 20 overs, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited romped home making 165 for the loss of three wickets when they had 11 balls to spare.
Opener Shykat Ali of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited hammered a windy 60. His 36-ball innings was studded with three sixes and six fours, while Nurul Hasan remained unbeaten with 44. His 17-ball knock was laced with four sixes and two fours.
One-down Imrul Kayes hit a polished 44. His 40-ball innings saw two fours and two sixes.
Nahudul Islam, Shoriful Islam and Rubel Hossain of Prime Bank took one wicket each for 23, 28 and 36 runs respectively.
Earlier, Mohammad Mithun of Prime Bank Cricket Club remained unbeaten with 67. His 42-ball innings was belted with seven fours and two sixes, while Raqibul Hasan remained unbeaten with 34. His 19-ball knock had four fours and a sixer.
Anamul Haque made 27 from 28 balls featuring one four and one six, while Rubel Mia scored 21 from 23 balls featuring two fours and a six.
Elias Sunny of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited bagged two wickets at the cost of 29 runs, while Ziaur Rahman took one wicket for 29 runs.
Meanwhile, the day’s other Super League match between Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club and Gazi Group Cricketers was washed out by rain at the same venue on the same day.
Gazi Group Cricketers scored 73 for the loss of four wickets in 12 overs before rain washed out the match.
Mominul Haque of Gazi Group Cricketers remained unbeaten with 25. His 26-ball innings had three fours.
Opener Soumya Sarkar made 25 from 16 balls including two fours and two sixes.
Sharifullah of Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club captured two wickets in the space of 18 runs, while Enamul Haque (Junior) and Shafiqul Islam took one wicket each for 10 and 18 runs respectively.
