Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited beat City Club by 53 runs in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Friday.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited led the points table bagging 18 points from 10 matches, while City Club earned six points from as many matches. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited confirmed their Super League berth.
Sent into bat first, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited scored 197 runs in 46.2 overs and then, shot out City Club by 144 runs off 43.1 overs.
Imrul Kayes of Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited played a captain’s knock of 61. His 89-ball innings was decorated with seven fours. Imrul Kayes was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning batting performance.
Robiul Islam Robi ,Nurul Hasan and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury contributed 24, 22 and 20 runs respectively to the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club total.
Abdul Halim and Moinul Islam of City Club grabbed three wickets each instead of 41 and 38 runs respectively.
Shahriar Alam and Rajibul Islam bagged two wickets each for 18 and 47 runs respectively.
Later, Jawad Royen of City Club hit a polished 45. His 51-ball innings was laced with five fours and a sixer.
Nazmul Hossain Milon made 33 from 50 deliveries featuring two sixes and one four.
Robiul Islam Robi grabbed three wickets in the space of 19 runs, while Ziaur Rahman and Parvez Rasool bagged two wickets each for 15 and 23 runs respectively.
Arif Ahmed, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury and Sunzamul Islam picked up one wicket each conceding 22,23 and 34 runs respectively.
