Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said the farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the reason behind attaining massive developments in every sector of the country.
“Bangladesh has been acclaimed globally for considerable progress in different key indicators of development as the present government has implemented measures to complete the unfinished works of the father of the nation Bangabandhu under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina,” speaker said as the chief guest while addressing a reception organised by Awami League (AL), Switzerland in Geneva on Wednesday.
Highlighting women empowerment, she said women representation in parliament is also increasing as 73 women are MPs in the present parliament.
Terming the 10th National Parliament is unique one, she said positive and constructive criticism of the opposition made the parliament more effective.
“World leaders have put their trust in democratic practice of Bangladesh,” she said, adding, that is why Bangladesh is leading the top two posts of The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in the international arena.
She urged all to work together to build a ‘Hunger, Exploitation and Discrimination free Bangladesh’ with the ideology of Bangabandhu by standing against all the anti-liberation forces.
