Chittagong Port Authority constructed car shed for accommodating 900 imported cars within the port restricted areas at a cost of Tk.24 crores aimed at stopping the pilferage of accessories of the imported cars by a influential gang since long .
Following the construction of this car shed, the car lifters won’t get change to take away the original parts of these cars replacing the old one .
While contacted Chairman of CPA Rear Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed told this correspondent that the newly constructed car shed will provide safety of the valuable cars as well as the capacity of the port will be enhanced. He said the present places where these imported cars are stored may be issued as a container and cargo handling space after shifting of cars to the new shed. He also informed that this constructed car shed may be turned into a multistoried shed if necessary in future.
