Winning toss, India chose to bat first at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and scored 302 runs for 6 wickets. Sharma then bagged his 7th ODI century, first in the World Cup, off 108 balls. Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe bagged the wicket of Suresh Raina who scored 65 runs off 57 balls with 7 fours and 1 six. Rohit was finally bowled by Taskin on the last delivery of 47th over. The 27-year right hand batsman scored 137 runs off 126 balls with 14 fours and 3 sixes. Taskin claimed 3 wickets for 69 runs in his 10 overs. Bangladesh pacer Rubel Hossain bowled 6 overs in his first spell rendering only 14 runs and took the wicket of Kohli. He finished with the only wicket for 56 runs. Both teams are unchanged except Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam who played last group match against New Zealand as captain Mashrafe Mortaza was given rest is out to make the return way for the skipper.
