Event: Shariful wins special prize in photography

Xinhua photojournalist Shariful Islam has won one of two special prizes in a contest recently organised to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China.
China Radio International, Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and Bangladesh National Museum organized the ‘Image of friendship between China and Bangladesh’ photography competition.
He is currently working as a Photojournalist at Dhaka Bureau office of Xinhua News Agency. Shaiful Islam started his career as a contributor reporter of The Daily Ittefaq in 2001.
During the last 15 years, he worked in different media including daily Inqilab, Boishakhi Television and daily Naya Diganta. Shafiul achieved a number of awards including the first prize in photo contest organised by National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMCO) and also first prize in photo contest organised by Dhaka University Photographic Society (DUPS).
Shariful Islam was born in 1983 in Sirajganj. He did his Masters and BA Hons in Persian Literature from the University of Dhaka. He completed Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism (2012) from Press Institute of Bangladesh, National University and also Completed Diploma in photojournalism from Pathshala-South Asian Institute of Photography.
