Shariful Huq, the nonagenarian father of Army chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq and former mayor of Dhaka north Annisul Huq, passed away yesterday morning at CMH due to old age complications.
“He passed away at 11. 20 am at Dhaka CMH (combined military hospital) where he was being treated for the past several days with old age complications . . . he was 96,” an ISPR spokesman told BSS.
Family sources said Huq would be buried at Banani graveyard on Saturday after his two expatriate sons reach in Dhaka from the United States. Huq was a former director of Bangladesh Ansar from where he retired in 1982.
