Share prices fell further on Wednesday on continued sell pressure when demand side remained modest. All the market indicators finished the session in red.
Out of the traded 315 issues on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), only 68 ended higher while 200 suffered major losses. Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also faced price fall across the board, with only 45 securities ending higher against 155 losing scrips.
The sell pressure brought the DSEX index of DSE over 29.05 points down at 4381.16 when the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES ended lower at 1658.14 and 1060.79 respectively.
The broader CSCX index of CSE also ended 59 points down at 8184.28.
The daily trade value on DSE, however, rose to Taka 414.15 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 323.48 crore as some investors were apparently selling their shares for cash instead of repositioning. Due to the sell pressures, the trade volume rose 12.78 crore shares from 9.76 crore shares of the previous session.
