Shapla Akhter of Narayangang earned double crown in the Gazi Group 34th National Badminton Championship clinching the women’s doubles and mixed doubles titles at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium here on Friday.
Shapla pairing with Elina Sultana lifted the women’s doubles title beating Bristi Khatun and Rehena Khatun of Bangladesh Army by 21-11, 21-12 points in the final.
She again partnering with Abdul Hannan clinched the mixed doubles title beating Rahat Kabir Khaled and Afrina Islam Mouli of Sylhet DSA by 21-9, 23-21 points.
Finals of men’s singles, women’s singles and men’s doubles will be held on Saturday afternoon. Secretary of National Sports Council Ashok Kumar Biswas will be the chief guest at the Saturday’s closing function.
