Shanto, Joy make good start in 2022

One-down Najmul Hossain Shanto and opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy of Bangladesh made a good start on the second of the 2022. They put on together 104 runs in the second wicket stand in the first Test against New Zealand on Sunday.
Shanto notched up a fine 64 before he was dismissed by Neil Wagner when Bangladesh’s score was 147 for the loss of two wickets. Shanto hit seven fours and a six in his 109-ball innings. It was Shanto’s second half-century in Test cricket. Shanto struck seven fours and a sixer in his 109-ball innings. He stayed 160 minutes at the crease before he returned to the pavilion. Shanto reached the 50-run landmark using 90 balls with six fours and a sixer. Shato had two centuries in his Test career.
Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy remained unbeaten with 70 runs. He hit seven fours in his 211-ball knock. Joy fulfilled his maiden Test half-century playing 165 deliveries with five fours.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shadman Islam scored together 43 runs in the opening stand.
After dismissal of Shadman Islam, who was caught & bowled by Neil Wagner, Joy and Shanto rescued their team and made a notable partnership, which gave Bangladesh to fight back against the hosts.
Joy and Mominul Haque will resume their first innings with the over-night score of 70 and eight runs respectively on the third day (Monday).
