Shane Jurgensen resigns as Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team

Head Coach of Bangladesh National Cricket team Shane Jurgensen submitted his resignation letter to BCB on Monday.
Earlier, President of BCB Nazmul Hassan Papon issued a show cause notice to the Team Management of BCB for the dismal performance in the recently concluded Sri Lanka series, Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20.
Shane Jurgensen was appointed Head Coach of Bangladesh National Cricket team in February 2013. His contract was valid until the World Cup 2015.
Bangladesh tasted defeat to Sri Lanka in the first Test and then made a draw with the islanders in the second Test.
The hosts lost to Sri Lanka in the ODI series and also in the Twenty20 series.
Later, Bangladesh lost to the all matches in the Asia Cup including against Afghanistan.
Besides, Bangladesh showed a dismal performance in the ICC World Twenty20 Cricket. They lost all the group matches against their opponents.
The home side lost to minnows Hong Kong in the qualifying round of the shortest version cricket competition.
Director of BCB Jalal Younus said, “Shane Jurgensen gave his resignation through e-mail. After discussing with him, we shall understand the total thing. Though Jurgensen submitted his resignation letter, he wants to act as Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team for the India series scheduled to be held in June this year.”
Jalal said, ‘If Jurgensen quits from his post, then we shall appoint a coach from any other country.”
Director of BCB Akram Khan said, “The final decision will be taken after the BCB boss returns in the country.”
