Shamsher Mobin taken on 5-day remand

Staff Reporter :Members of the law enforcement agencies arrested BNP Vice-Chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury in a case relating to an attack on MP Chhabi Biswas (Netrakana-1). A Dhaka court yesterday granted police prayer for five-day remand to Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury.On December 24, a case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station accusing several BNP leaders, including Shamsher Mobin.Earlier on Thursday night, a team of Detective Branch (DB) Police picked up Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury from his residence in the city’s Defense Officials Housing Society (DOHS) in Gulshan area around11:15pm, police said. He, however, was shown arrest on Friday morning in MP Chhabi Biwas case. Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said that a team of DB (north) picked him up from his residence Thursday night and taken to the DB headquarters for quizzing on the Mintoo Road in the capital.
