Relatives and supporters of slain panel mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation Nazrul Islam on Saturday night held a demonstration at Mizmizi in Siddhirganj demanding the arrest of Awami League MP AKM Shamim Osman.
They also brought out a procession in front of Nazrul’s residence there around 8:00pm and chanted slogans demanding Shamim Osman’s arrest and punishment. Nazrul’s father-in-law Shahidul Islam was also participated in the procession.
The agitating locals believed that Shamim Osman is an obstacle to
arresting the main accused in the sensational seven-murder case. They alleged that it was Shamim who prevented arrest of criminals and terrorists in Narayanganj.
The march also raised slogans demanding arrest of Nur Hossain, the prime accused and another suspect local AL leader Haji Yasin Miah.
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad was inside the house of slain Nazrul Islam at that time. He went there to console the family members of slain Nazrul.
It was the first demonstration and procession in Narayanganj after the seven murders that sought arrest of Shamim Osman.
