World-famed Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s Melbourne Renegades beat Hobart Hurricanes by 37 runs in the Big Bash League T20 Cricket at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Australia on Wednesday.
Sent in to bat first, Melbourne Renegades scored a fighting total of 163 for 7 in allocated 20 overs.
One down batsman BA Stokes played a hurricane innings of 77 runs off just 37 balls featuring eight fours and five sixes to be adjudged man of the match.
Two down CJ Ferguson made a run a ball 31 hitting one boundary while number five batsman Shakib Al Hasan scored 14 runs off 12 balls with a boundary.
In reply, Hobart Hurricanes were all out for 126 runs in 19.2 overs with two down GJ Bailey making the team highest 20 runs.
NP Winter grabbed three wickets for 19 runs while Fawad Ahmed, PM Siddle and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets each conceding 13, 15 and 33 runs respectively.
Shakib, who left Dhaka for Australia on Sunday night (Jan 4), included in the day’s squad in place of Andre Russell, who was called in West Indies ODI team to play against South Africa.
In the remaining group matches, Melbourne Renegades will face Melbourne Stars on January 10 at MCG, followed by Brisbane Heat (Jan 13), and Adelaide Strikers (Jan 19), at the Etihad Stadium.
