Former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan went to the Anti-Corruption Commission ‘s (ACC) Segunbagicha headquarters in the capital on Sunday after four days of the ICC ban on him.
The all-rounder reached the ACC office around 10:00am and went straight to the ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud’s room avoiding the media.
After sometime, he left the office.
The ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told media that it was a regular meeting between the ACC Chairman and Shakib, the goodwill ambassador of the commission.
A source in the ACC said that the subject matter of the discussion was whether Shakib will remain the goodwill ambassador of the ACC in view of the sanction imposed on him by the ICC.
The ACC Chairman gave thanks to Shakib for not accepting the bookies’ proposal.
“Shakib was not involved with any corruption. ACC will always stand beside him,” said anti-graft watchdog Chairman Iqbal Mahmood on 31 October.
On October 29, the International Cricket Council (ICC) imposed a two-year ban on Bangladesh Test and T20i skipper Shakib Al Hasan from all kinds of cricket for failing to report spot fixing approaches to the ICC’s Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) on three occasions.
