Shakib to lead MSC in DPL

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will lead Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) in the coming Dhaka Premier League (DPL). Shakib will captain Mohammedan and it has been confirmed by the club through a press release.
Mohammedan coach Sohail Islam has said that Shakib Al Hasan will lead the side this year. The Tigers all-rounder has been given the responsibility by the team’s cricket committee officials.
Sohail said, ‘Talks have been held with the officials of Mohammedan. Shakib has captained the team in this year’s Premier League to be held in T20 format. Shakib also gladly accepted the offer of captaincy.
Shakib will miss Pakistan Super Leauge(PSL) for DPL.He was roped in by Lahore Qalandars as a replacement player for the remainder of the tournament. Later on Rashid khan of Afghanistan returned to the team replacing shakib.
Shakib, who did not take part in last year’s DPL due to suspension, has signed with Mohammedan as a free player. This will be his first DPL since the 2016 edition when he played for Abahani Limited.
The left-arm spinner took 18 wickets in 8 matches for Abahani Limited who were crowned champions in 2016. He batted in 7 innings and scored 210 runs at an average of 30.00.
Abdur Razzak was the captain of Mohammedan in the last edition of DPL. But this left-arm spinner is now the selector of the national team. He has retired from cricket. Shakib Al Hasan will captain in his place.
Shakib’s Mohammedan also includes the likes of Taskin Ahmed, Abu Jayed Rahi,Shamsur Rahman,Shuvagata Hom,Irfan Sukkur.
The Premier League was suspended last year due to the corona outbreak. After a long break, the tournament is set to be held on May 31. The premier league will be held in 2019-20, but this time it will be played in a different format. Dhaka Premier League to be held in T20 format for the first time.
