Shakib Al Hasan has tested negative for coronavirus. His saliva report was taken Friday and he got his coronavirus report on Saturday. Shakib Al Hasan is now quarantined for at Four Points Sheraton Hotel in the city’s Gulshan.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) was suspended on Tuesday last. Shakib played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL, while Mustafizur Rahman played for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL. After postponement of IPL , Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman arrived in Dhaka by a special chartered aeroplane. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and KKR and RR gave all sorts of cooperation for Shakib and Mustafiz to return to Dhaka.
Mustafizur Rahman, who is now quarantined at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the city’s Karwan Bazar, underwent for Covid-19 test. His corona report will get on Sunday.
Physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Dr Monjurul Hossain said, “Shakib has become negative in his Covid-19 test. However, we shall get Mustafizur’s corona report tomorrow.”
Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman’s 14-day quarantine period will come to an end on May 20.
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the first One Day International (ODI) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city’s Mirpur on May 23. So, after ending their quarantine period, they will get two days for practice.
Sri Lanka Cricket team will arrive in Dhaka to play a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in the second ODI match at the SBNCS on May 25, Bangladesh will meet Sri Lanka in the third ODI match at the SBNCS on May 28.
All the matches will be Day/Night affairs.
