UNB, Khulna :
Famed Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was still hopeful of winning the 2nd Test in Khulna against visiting Zimbabwe.
Shakib, who grabbed three wickets for the Tigers in the first innings, expressed the hope at a post match briefing at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, here Wednesday.
“It is still possible for Bangladesh to win the Test… we must dismiss Zimbabwe within one hour of the first session on 4th day (Thursday) conceding few runs, and must post a big target for Zimbabwe in the second innings,” he said, adding “anything is possible in cricket.”
Shakib regretted, “we didn’t bowl and field really well today (Wednesday). Our fielders dropped some catches, allowing Zimbabwe move ahead to make big score.”
Answering reporters query, he said: “I grabbed three wickets after lunch. If we could grab two more wickets, we would have been in the driving seat… now possibility of win still remains for both teams.”
On the other hand, Zimbabwe aims to overcome the 433 runs posted by home side in the first innings.
“Our target is to overhaul the first innings runs (of Bangladesh),” said Regis Chakabva who scored unbeaten 75 runs for Zimbabwe on Wednesday
“(Hamilton) Masakadza kept the match alive with his brilliant innings. He is on way to double century,” Chakabva told the press briefing.
