Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will join his teammates straight from the USA in the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe, said Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Sunday. Shakib is currently in the USA enjoying a break with his wife and children as he opted to take a break after guiding Mohammedan Sporting Club into the super league of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League T20.
Though Shakib was included across the format for the tour of Zimbabwe still there was confusion regarding his joining the teammates as many suggested he would arrive in Bangladesh and later travel to Zimbabwe.
BCB director Sazzadul Alam, who replaced Khaled Mahmud as team leader for the Zimbabwe tour cleared the air regarding Shakib on Sunday.
”He (Shakib) will be going straight to South Africa, and then probably would join us at Harare, as it is stated BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) arrangements, so our team will go first, followed by some of the teammates joining us later. The traveling is a big challenge in this condition,” Sazzadul told reporters on Sunday.
”We are hoping that Shakib (al Hasan) will be playing in all three formats upon his return, obviously, he is a great player, and his name creates pressure on the opposition, as well. So up to this the point, everything looks fine, let’s see what happens when we reach Zimbabwe,” he added.
