Best ODI all-rounder of world cricket Shakib Al Hasan left the city for United States of America (USA) on Tuesday as his father-in-law is seriously ill who is now staying in USA.
Shakib Al Hasan played for Gemcon Khulna against Gazi Group Chattogram in their 1st Qualifier match of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Monday last. Khulna confirmed their final berth defeating Chattogram by 47 runs.
Shakib Al Hasan scored 28 runs from 15 balls and he took one wicket in that match. But his joy was not last for a long time as he knew that his father-in-laws, condition is critical.
Shakib left the hotel to go to USA.
Manager of Gemcon Khulna Nafees Iqbal confirmed this matter. He said, ” Shakib Al Hasan had to leave the hotel on Monday night. Shakib’s father-in-law has been suffering illness for a long time. Yesterday Shakib knew that his father-in-law’s condition is critical. So, he was permitted to leave the hotel. We shall pray for Shakib and his family and relatives.”
As the final will be held on Friday, Shakib cannot take part in the final. So, Gemcon Khulna will compete in the final without their star player Shakib Al Hasan.
