Shakib nominated ICC Player of the Year

Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh has been nominated the ICC Player of the Year of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the highest governing body of world cricket. Shakib has been nominated the ICC Player of the Year in ODI category of 2021. The other contenders of this category, are : Babar Azam of Pakistan, Janneman Malan of South Africa and Paul Stirling of Ireland.
Ravichandran Ashwin of India, Joe Root of England, Dimuth Karunaratne of Sri Lanka, Kyle Jamieson of New Zealand have been nominated for the prize of the Player of the Year in Test category.
Jos Buttler of England, Mitchell Marsh of Australia, Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka and Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan have been nominated for the prize of the Player of the Year in T20I category.
Shakib Al Hasan, the ace all-rounder scored 277 runs playing nine ODI matches in 2021. He hit two half centuries. His average was 39.57. He captured 17 wickets with an extra-ordinary average of 17.52. Shakib Al Hasan scored 113 runs against West Indies and bagged six wickets. He scored 19 runs and claimed three wickets against Sri Lanka. He returned to his form scoring 145 runs and claimed eight wickets against Zimbabwe.
Babar Azam scored 405 runs playing six matches. He hit two centuries. His average was
67.50.
Janneman Malan scored 509 runs playing eight matches. He hit two centuries and two half centuries. His average was 84.83.
Paul Stirling scored 705 runs playing 14 matches. He hit three centuries and two half centuries. His average was 79.66. He is the highest scorer in the ODI format of this year.
Meanwhile, Lizelle Lee of South Africa, Tammy Beaumont of England, Hayley Matthews of West Indies and Fatima Sana of Pakistan have been nominated Female Player of the Year in 2021.
