Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman will return to Dhaka soon from India. Shakib Al Hasan played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Indian Premier League (IPL), while Mustafizur Rahman played for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL.
But the IPL was suspended on Tuesday last due to coronavirus outbreak in India.
So, the foreign cricketers are very much keen to return home as soon as possible.
Cricket fans of Bangladesh are eagerly waiting for the arrival of Shakib and Mustafiz in Dhaka.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has prepared all the papers for returning of Shakib and Mustafiz from India. BCB has kept in touch with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and also with KKR, RR and the governing body of IPL.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BCB Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan said to a local website , “BCB has continued to contact with the concern organizations of Shakib and Mustafiz.”
Meanwhile, the Protocol Officer of BCB Wasim Khan said, ” I am keeping touch with Shakib and Mustafiz. I talked to them yesterday. Both of them are eagerly waiting to return to Dhaka. But their flight has not yet confirmed.”
Khan said, ” Shakib and Mustafiz have to return to home as early as possible. They have to take 14-day quarantine after returning to Dhaka. If they can return to Dhaka by May 7, they will be available from May 20 and they can take part in the training camp, which will take place marking the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.”
It may be mentioned that Sri Lanka will arrive in Dhaka soon to play three ODI matches. But if the two superstars make delay to return to Dhaka, it will be a tough task for them to take part in the first ODI against the Islanders. The first ODI match is scheduled to be held on May 23.
