Bangladesh defeated New Zealand by five wickets in their last Group-A match of the ICC Champions Trophy in Cardiff on Friday.
New Zealand made 265 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Needing 266 runs to win, Bangladesh faced an early batting collapse losing four wickets for 33 runs.
Later, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad fought back against the bowling attack of the Kiwis. They put on together 224 runs for the fifth wicket partnership. They used 209 balls.
It is the highest run partnership of Bangladesh. They played the key role for Bangladesh’s victory. It was the second highest run partnership in ICC Champions Trophy.
They reached together the 100-run landmark playing 107 balls. They fulfilled the 200-run partnership utilizing 195 balls.
Shakib Al Hasan notched up 114. His 115-ball innings was belted with 11 fours and a sixer.
Mahmudullah Riyad remained unbeaten with 102. His 107-ball knock was laced with eight fours and two sixers.
