Entertainment Report :
Cinema halls in Bangladesh opened after seven months on October 16. The result has been disastrous as per the hall owners. Film enthusiasts are choosing to stay at home. The threat looming over the entire industry has become far too real now. A lack of ‘quality films’ is the reason behind the absence of cinema-goers, contended the hall owners.
Film Sahoshi Hero Alom, starring Ashraful Alom Saeed, best known as Hero Alom, failed to draw audiences back to the theatres.
According to reports, there were crowds outside the halls to greet Hero Alom when he came to visit the screenings; however, hardly any tickets were being sold. Many hall owners shared their grievances to the media in the last few days as Bangladeshi cinema hit a new low. In light of the pandemic-induced film drought, two old films of Shakib Khan – an actor who has time after time proven his star quality by luring viewers into cinema halls – are being re-released.
Bir and Password, starring Shakib Khan and Bubly, will return to hit the halls on October 23 and October 30 respectively. The producers are hoping to book at least 50 cinema halls. Industry experts have welcomed this decision, calling it ‘timely and crucial.’ They are hoping that film-goers will choose to leave the safety of their homes to see Shakib Khan on the big screen.
