Bangladesh played a three-day warm-up match in the West Indies (WI) sans their new Test captain ahead of a two-Test series against the West Indians.
Shakib Al Hasan, on the other hand, joined the team on the final day of the match and practiced batting at the nets alone.
After Mominul Haque resigned as captain just before the West Indies trip, Shakib was given the opportunity to lead the squad for the third time.
Shakib arrived after a brief vacation with his family in the United States, while the rest of the team had gone to the Caribbean in separate batches.
When the Test captain arrived in Antigua, he saw the team play the final day of a three-day warm-up match.
However, the visitors’ bright point on day three was Mustafizur Rahman’s three-wicket haul as the three-day warm-up match between Bangladesh and West Indies President’s XI at the Coolidge Cricket Ground concluded in a tie.
In only six overs, the Cutter Master took three wickets and conceded 34 runs. The day before, Ebadot Hossain took three wickets as the West Indies scored 359 for eight before declaring their first innings.
