Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the young off-spinner of Bangladesh so far has been the only shining spot of the team as far as bowling is concerned.
In a condition, difficult to him, the 21-year old, took five wickets in three matches and made some valuable runs lower down the order but it was his terrific economy rate in batting-friendly surface which caught the attention.
When every bowler were taken in sheer disdain during the match against England, Miraz was the only one, who tormented the England power-packed batting line up with his sly off-spin and subtle change in his variation.
The young all-rounder however attributed the success down to his senior teammate Shakib Al Hasan, whom he dubbed as his role model.
“Actually, Shakib Al Hasan is a role model for us; we should follow everything he does. He is that type of cricketer, when he bowls I feel confident. When he starts bowling, I tend to follow him from there,” Miraz said.
Presence of Shakib Al Hasan is always great, Miraz said, adding that his senior colleague always helps him to understand the nature of the wicket and the match situation.
He also said Shakib is the one who always gives him the tips to how he should bowl against a particular batsman.
“He understands the condition and wicket better and passes valuable tips always. He gives us the idea how to bowl against a particular batsman. This is of great help always,” he added.
Miraz believes that Shakib is an inspiration for him and junior cricketers have a lot to learn from this champion cricketer.
Having already scored 260 runs with one century and two half-centuries, Shakib is in forefront to be the leading scorer of this World Cup. Miraz also reckons Shakib to make this World Cup a remarkable one.
“I always find inspiration from him. There is one thing that we juniors have a lot to learn from him. The way he is batting, bowling and fielding, I think he will make the World Cup remarkable for him and for us.”
