Veteran all-rounder Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said, ” Our players did not perform well in the Test matches. We won some matches at home. We were going through a procedure. But suddenly we went to bottom position. We were never consistent in Test cricket. We have been consistent performance in ODI format. We have been playing in ODI format since 2015.”
He said, ” Shakib can not bring a good result in over-night time. But Shakib is an experienced cricketer, which is positive for Bangladesh’s Test cricket. There is depth in Shakib’s statement. Shakib has to get time. I believe that we shall come out from disaster. But it will take time.”
He also said, ” We have to win at our home soil. Then, we will get success in the abroad.”
Captain of Bangladesh Test Cricket team Shakib Al Hasan said, ” We shall play well in ODI and T20I series against West Indies.”
Shakib is not the Captain of upcoming three-match T20I series and the three-match ODI series against West Indies. Shakib Al Hasan has reliability with his teammates for the ensuing T20I and ODI series. He believes the upcoming limited-over match series will be competitive.
Though Bangladesh lost to West Indies in the two-match Test series but Shakib has seen improvements in pace bowling departments. Promising pacer Khaled Ahmed captured altogether 10 wickets after playing two Test matches. Besides, pacers Ebadot Hossain and Shoriful Islam bowled well in the recently concluded some matches.
After the prize-giving ceremony of the second Test against West Indies, Shakib Al Hasan said, ” We knew that the two-match Test series will be tough task for us. After a big recess, we shall play Test matches at our home soil. I hope we shall fight back against our opponents. I am not worried about our batting department. We have to become mentally strong.”
Najmul Abedin Fahim, experienced cricketer and Mentor of Shakib Al Hasan, said, ” Tamim, Mushfiq, Shakib have passed a long path. They have been performing for a decade. They performed their duty with sincerely. Bangladesh cricket’s progress has come forward through their contributions.”
Fahim said, ” But now the young cricketers have to perform well for the development of Bangladesh’s cricket. They have to play their role properly. They should act accurately to bring Bangladesh’s cricket in forward position.”
He said, ” Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz have to come forward. They should take the responsibility for the improvement of Bangladesh’s cricket. They have to understand that the period of the senior cricketers will come to an end soon. So, they have to take total responsibility and play with sincerity in all formats of cricket.”
