Bangladesh’s Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan and promising fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman may take the field on opposing sides in the 7th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (RGIS) in Hyderabad today (Thursday).
The world famed all-rounder Shakib is representing a franchise team Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 11th IPL while Mustafiz taking part for Mumbai Indians.
The 7th match of the eight-team T20 league will begin at 8:30pm (Bangladesh time) and both Bangladesh cricketers have bright chances to face each other, if they get places in their best XIs.
Shakib [2/23] found Rajasthan Royals batsmen Rahul Tripathi and Sanju Samson in his first appearance in this edition for his side’s stunning nine wickets victory in the 4th match of the league at RGIS in Hyderabad on April 9.
The 31-year-old Shakib, who was sold in IPL auction 2018 by INR 2 crore, is representing Sunrisers Hyderabad for the first time in the league after his six stints with the two times champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Mustafiz opened his account [1/39] in this edition IPL, dismissing Chennai Super Kings batsman Ravindra Jadeja in the tournament opener at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Apr 7. Mumbai Indians conceded one-wicket defeat in the opener.
The soft spoken pacer Mustafiz is appearing with defending champions Mumbai Indians for the first time, after appearing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 and 2017.
Starting with base price INR 1 crore, Mustafiz was sold in IPL auction 2018 for INR 2.20 crore.
