Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was due to return in the city on Tuesday night. Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan criticized about Akram Khan and Naimur Rahman Durjoy, the two directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). But President of BCB Nazmul Hassan said, ” I thought nothing about Shakib’s statement. Shakib said to me, ” I am not interested to take part in Sri Lanka series. But I did not think that Shakib either mentioned the upcoming Sri Lanka Test series or the upcoming Sri Lanka ODI series. Shakib submitted his letter to BCB. But I did not read his letter. Akram Khan told me about his letter. I said to Akram to give him No Objection Certificate (NOC).”
Nazmul said, ” Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan told me that he was not interested to play South Africa Test series. Shakib also told me that he was now edged and he was not interested to play much Test matches. It was happened four years ago.” Shakib Al Hasan also criticized about the High Performance Squad. But Nazmul Hassan said, “There are lot of players in the pipeline of High Performance Squad. At least 21 cricketers are in stand-bys position who will play in the next stage.”
BCB boss also said, ” Shakib showed lame excuse to play in the IPL. Our team will play at least 14 T20I matches before the T20 World Cup. So there is no reason that IPL will be the preparation for upcoming T20 World Cup.” He said, ” If Shakib will play for Bangladesh it will be helpful for Bangladesh as he is the best performer of our country and also an experienced cricketer. However, we shall not apply force to a player, who is not interested to play.”
