Shakib does it for Bangladesh

An all-round performance by Shakib Al Hasan guided Bangladesh to level the Twenty20 International (T20I) series with Caribbeans after beating West Indies by 36 runs in the second T20I match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Thursday.
Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten with 42. His 26-ball knock was studded with five fours and a sixer. Later, Shakib also shone with the cherry. He captured five wickets at the cost of 21 runs. Shakib Al Hasan was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round performance. Shakib for the first time captured five-wicket haul in his T20I carreer.
Sent into bat first, the Tigers piled up a mammoth total of 211 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then they bowled out West Indies for 175 runs off 19.2 overs. Bangladesh made an auspicious start as the openers Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal contributed together 42 runs before Tamim Iqbal (15) was caught by Cottrell off Allen.
Then Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar added together 68 runs in the second wicket stand before Soumya was caught by Brathwaite off Cottrell when Bangladesh’s score was 110 for the loss of two wickets.
Liton Das and Mahmudullah Riyad shone with the willow.
Liton Das notched up a windy 60. His-34 ball innings was laced with four sixes and six fours. It was Liton’s second T20I half-century.
Mahmudullah Riyad remained unbeaten with 43. His 21-ball innings saw seven fours.
Soumya Sarkar made 32 from 22 balls hitting three fours and a sixer.
SS Contrell was the most successful bowler for the islanders. He bagged a pair of wickets for 38 runs.
Mustafizur Rahman, Riyad and Abu Hider gave a good support to Shakib to wrap up Caribbeans’ innings.
Wonder Boy Mustafizur Rahman bagged a pair of wickets at instead of 50 runs.Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Abu Hider got one wicket each for one, 23 and 33 runs respectively.
Riston Powell, Shai Hope and K Paul were the successful batsmen for the hosts.
Roston Powell made exact 50 from 34 balls featuring five fours and a sixer.
Shai Hope scored 36, while Paul made 29.
The third and final T20I will be held at the same venue on December 22.
