Shakib begins practice session

Ace all-rounder and Captain of Bangladesh T20 Cricket team Shakib Al Hasan began his practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city’s Mirpur on Sunday. Shakib took part his physical training at the gymnasium of ‘Home of Cricket’ and did running at the SBNCS. It was his individual practice session.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Saturday the 17-member Bangladesh Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and also T20 World Cup.
The BCB has named Shakib Al Hasan as the Captain of Bangladesh T20 squad after Shakib cancelled his controversial contract with Betwinner News.
It may be mentioned that Asia Cup is knocking at the door. The Asia Cup will be held from August 27 at the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This edition of Asia Cup will be held in T20 format.
After the announcement of Bangladesh squad, the cricket critics, journalists and cricket fans of the country expect that the practice of Bangladesh team will start within one or two days. But the BCB could not start their team’s practice as the coaching staff of Bangladesh Cricket team are not in Bangladesdh.
Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Russell Domingo, Bowling Coach Alan Donald and the other coaching staff are now staying in their own countries. A BCB source informed that the coaching staff will come in Bangladesh on August 19 after finishing their recess.
So, before their arrival no is no chance to start the full-fledged practice session of Bangladesh cricketers.
Chief Selector of the BCB Minhajul Abedin Nannu said, ” Before August 19, there is no chance to start the official training session of Bangladesh Cricket team. But if anybody wants to take part in individual practice session, he can do that job.”
Nannu also said, ” The boys are engaged in competitive cricket. After the West Indies tour, the cricketers are busy in games and practice sessions. So, the boys need rest.”
But Shakib was not with the Bangladesh Cricket team. He didn’t go to Zimbabwe to play for Bangladesh. He also took leisure during the ODI series in West Indies. So, he was out of the game for one month.
Thus, Shakib took part in the individual practice session yesterday.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket team will tour the UAE on August 22 or August 23. Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in their first match of Asia Cup at Sharjah on August 30. Then, Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in Dubai on September 1.
