Bangladesh cricketers split into two teams played a practice match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Sunday. Bangladesh Red team led by Shakib Al Hasan piled up 165 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Bangladesh Green team led by Afif Hossain chased a fighting total given by Shakib Al Hasan, the Captain of Bangladesh Red team.
Shakib Al Hasan batted twice. He scored 17 runs in his first attempt. Then, Shakib again batted. He scored 38 runs in his second innings. As practice match is an informal cricket competition, everything can be happened.
Parvez Hossain Emon and Anamul Haque Bijoy started the innings of Bangladesh Red team. Bijoy was out by a delivery of Taskin in the first over. After Bijoy’s dismissal, Mahedi Hasan came at the crease to bat for Bangladesh Red team. But he could stay at the pitch for a short period as he was out in last ball of the first over.
After Mahedi Hasan’s departure, Shakib and Emon tried to repair the damage. But Shakib was dismissed for 17 runs. But Shakib batted again. He remained unbeaten with 38 runs. Bijoy batted twice. He scored four runs in his first attempt. He made 17 in his second attempt. Mahmudullah Riyad scored 12 runs, while Mushfiqur Rahim made 22 runs. Parvez Hossain Emon notched up 23 runs.
Taskin Ahmed of Bangladesh Green got two wickets.
