Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan returned to the country early Wednesday from United States of America (USA). Shakib and his family spent five months in USA and returned to the country by a flight of Qatar Airways. Shakib Al Hasan became second time a father of a baby girl in last April in USA.
Shakib was banned last year by the International Cricket Council (ICC) from all sorts of cricket for failing to report corrupt approaches.
Shakib Al Hasan will undergo a Covid-19 test. If he becomes negative for coronavirus test, then he will go to BKSP in Savar. He will start his practice under supervision of his coaches and mentors Nazmul Abedin Fahim and Mohammad Salahuddin from September 5 there.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket team will visit Sri Lanka to play a three-match Test series against the islanders from October 24.
On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan’s suspension will be withdrawn from October 29 this year. So, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hopes that Bangladesh Cricket team will get service from Shakib Al Hasan from the second Test against Sri Lanka.
Chief of the Cricket Operations Committee of BCB Akram Khan said, “Everything would have to be on a personal level since there is an ICC ban on Shakib. The BCB can’t be involved with his initiative right now. But if the coaches want to help, they can do it personally.”
Shakib will miss the opening Test since it is scheduled from October but there is a great chance that he can be available for the next two Test matches.
Akram said there is no problem for Shakib to train personally under the supervision of the coaches but BCB will work him from 29th October, when his ban will be ended officially.
“All the guidelines of the national team will be applicable for him after October 29. So, officially we will work with him from the 29th. Before that, if our coaches want to help him, they can do it personally,” Akram added.
