The First Joint District Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday summoned Shajahan Khan, former Shipping Minister to appear in his court in a Tk one billion defamation case filed by film actor and founder of Nirapad Sarak Chai movement Ilias Kanchan.
Dhaka’s First Joint District Judge Utpal Bhattcherjee passed the order summoning Shajahan Khan.
On February 12, Ilias Kanchan filed the defamation case against Bangladesh Road Transport Workers
Federation (BRTWF) Executive President Shajahan for making derogatory comment on him in a programme on December 8 last year.
Ilias Kanchan demanded Tk one billion as compensation from Shajahan Khan for insulting and defaming him.
On December 8 last year, Shajahan Khan claimed that Ilias Kanchan received crores of Taka as donations from abroad for his Nirapad Sharak Chai movement. Thereafter, he invested the illegal money in several businesses and schools.
