Shahrin J Huq, an expatriate Bangladeshi living in UAE and the organizer of the successful kites festival on Purbachal on Pahela Boishakh last year has arranged the same event with elaborate programmes on 300-feet Purbachal Police Housing Society areas on the upcoming Pahela Boishakh on April 14, the first day of Bengali New year under the auspicious of S Creation.
While talking in this regard Shahrin said, “Kite festival is a part of our art and cultural heritage. We must promote our culture and it should be highlighted across the world. Once a popular kites festival in the rural areas has been facing extinction due to rapid urbanization and I have been working to save the culture through S Creation. To continue this effort, this year over 5000 kites will fly in the sky amid different programmes upholding the traditional Bengali culture.” She also said that Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu will inaugurate the programme at 4:00pm as the chief guest. The festival will continue from 8:00am to 6:00pm. The programmes include Baul song for the whole day, best Boishakhi couple and traditional Bengali food festival.
